Today I was walking down a road in India and I saw this road sign.

It turns out after a swift Google search that desiltation means the process of removing silt from a body of water.
I was bamboozled. I would never use this word, I COULD never use this word. Yes the road workers were a level above me.
Road signs never normally have such complex words. They have simple words like no entry. Road works. Men at work. But not this.
I’ve always believed that India has preserved the rich heritage of the English language, especially by using English words you can only hear in India.
